Clarification

The March 10th issue of the Weekly Adirondack included a report on the Town of Webb Board’s monthly meeting held March 8th, including discussion of town employee policy.

Councilwoman Kate Russell was reported as having been in support of a Sick Leave Policy that had been brought into discussion by Councilwoman Barbara Green for future consideration. This policy involved an expansion of existing sick leave policy that would allow transfers of unused sick days among employees.

The report did not mean to imply that any councilperson had complaints with the town policy as currently written.

Thank you for coverage of local law enforcement personnel achievements

As President, Sheriff Farber works with sheriffs around the state to further the efforts of the Sheriffs’ Association to enhance public safety in New York State through professional training and accreditation programs, public safety programs, and advocacy. The association was formed in 1934 to assist sheriffs in the efficient and effective delivery of services to the public. It comprises all elected and appointed sheriffs on New York State. Kudos to The Weekly Adirondack for the detailed and positive coverage of Webb Police Department activities. And congratulations to Officer Birtle for well deserved recognition!

Note that Herkimer County Sheriff Chris Farber was recently elected President of the New York State Sheriff’s Association by his peers. He and other officers were sworn in by Herkimer County Judge John Brennan. The meeting was in Albany.

Quentin Lucas looks to go into law enforcement field

Town of Webb school senior Quentin Lucas, 17, moved to Old Forge three years ago from the Rochester area.

After graduation, he is looking forward to furthering his education at North Country Community College in Saranac Lake.

He plans to major in Criminal Justice and minor in Sociology, he said.

“Learning about the different cultures and people will help me become a great cop. The two degree programs go well together,” he said. Continue reading →

Senator Hugh Farley visits local friends on parade day

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) is a frequent participant of the Old Forge St. Patrick’s Day, and once again he joined in the festivities on Friday, March 18th.

Another event not missed by the senator is the pre-parade party hosted by local attorney Timothy Foley and his wife Patty at the Foley Law Firm on Main Street.

Senator Farley enjoys meeting with his many local constituents at the Foley office, but was disappointed to hear that fellow long-time guest Miriam Kashiwa was unable to attend this year.

Not wanting to miss an opportunity to see his friend, he and the Foleys paid her a home visit prior to the St. Patrick’s party.

Parking heavy equipment in Residential Areas… Commerical activity?

Webb High School: Students trained for emergency health response

Town of Webb high school students are now required to have training in hands-only Cardio-pul-monary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) prior graduation.

New York State made this effective on October 7, 2015.

CPR and AED have always been taught as part of health class, according to Webb teacher and CPR certified, Diane Amos. Continue reading →

Webb Police report recent law activity

The Town of Webb Police Department has reported the following recent law enforcement activity.

A 23-year-old Little Falls woman was charged with Driving While Intoxicated following an incident that occurred on Thursday, March 17 at 11:23 p.m.

According to the report, an investigation into a disturbance at Fastrac resulted in the arrest of the defendant for the above charge.

She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Webb Court at a later date.
