A crowd of Kinder-wood Preschool supporters gathered at the McCauley Mountain Chalet on Saturday, March 5 for the annual Snowmakers’ Ball.
The evening included a dinner buffet, live music by Joe Bolton, dancing and raffles.

The Polar Bear Nordic Youth Team traveled to New Hampshire on Friday, March 4 to attend the biggest race of the season, the New England Bill Koch Festival, that took place on March 5 and 6th.
Coach Janine Phaneuf said the 2016 Festival was held with good snow cover and mostly sunny skies with the majestic White Mountains adding their grandeur and magic above the fields and forested trails of Great Glen trails in Pinkham Notch, NH. Continue reading
The Eagle Bay Volunteer Hose Co., Inc. would like to thank everyone who participated, attended and supported our 3rd. annual Chili Cook-Off and Open House held on Saturday,February 27 at the Eagle Bay Fire Station.
We especially thank all those participants who cooked up their special chili concoctions and entered them for judging in our annual Chili Cook-Off event. All together we had thirteen entries that were competing for top cash prizes in four Chili Categories. Continue reading
The Polar Bear Ski Club hosted the 2016 Kandahar Festival ski races at McCauley Mountain on February 27 and 28th. We would like to thank everyone who helped make this such a huge success.

Four Polar Bear alpine skiers representing the Adirondack and Central Councils traveled to Hunt Hollow in Naples, NY to compete in the Kandahar Championships on Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5th.
The Championship is open to racers ages 11 and 12, and also fields U14 skiers, ages 13 and 14.
Representing the Polar Bears in the U12 race were Thomas Levi, Alexis Heath and Karleigh Hollister.

In mid-March of 1977 I decided to make a snowshoe trek out to Fawn Lake. There was still a good two feet of snow pack on the ground and some wet snow had fallen overnight which made the world look clean and fresh on that Saturday morning.
I loaded up my runner sled with an old pair of wooden snowshoes that were hanging in my father’s workshop.
They had been repaired several times with glue, aluminum splice braces and new leather webbing. Continue reading
