Polar Bears say thank you

The Polar Bear Ski Club hosted the 2016 Kandahar Festival ski races at McCauley Mountain on February 27 and 28th. We would like to thank everyone who helped make this such a huge success.

First, we need to thank Steve Uzdavinis, Dave Kress and the rest of the McCauley Mountain staff for all of the work that they did to prepare the mountain for the weekend.

Thank you to the McCauley Mountain Ski Patrol, Supervisor Robert Moore and Councilman Mike Ross for helping to park cars. Councilperson Kate Russell for acting as our morning greeter and to our cleaners, Maggie and Don Russell who helped keep the Chalet so clean all weekend.

Thank you to all of the Mohawk Valley Ski Team families for helping us with anything and everything we asked of you. We couldn’t do it alone.

A special thank you to our sponsors, who provided the additional funds and items we needed to put on a race of this size: Adirondack Woodcraft Camps, Camp Gorham, Burkhard-Evans, ADKscraps, Enchanted Forest/Water Safari, Town of Webb Police, Helmers Fuel.

DiOrio’s Market, Old Forge Hardware, Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Homes, Central Adirondack Association, Planet Fitness, Strand Theatre, Hollisters Trading Post, Pedals & Petals, Gallery 3040.

Mountainman Outdoor Supply Co., Town of Old Forge, McQuade & Bannigan, Adirondack River Outfitters, Ozzie’s Coffee Bar, Simpli Nature, The Forge Motel, Benny’s Ice Cream.

Crowley Milk, Seventh Lake House, Kinney Drugs, Levi Brothers, Mountain Greenery, Rivett’s Marine, George Resinger, Bruce Hodge Electrian.

And most importantly to our Polar Bear families, friends and alumni for their many hours of volunteering. It takes more than 50 volunteers every day to put on a race like this. I can’t thank you all enough for stepping up when asked. You are the reason that we are able to host races like this and be the envy of all the other ski clubs.

Thank you,

Diane Heroux, President
