Annual Meeting: CAP-21 recounts accomplishments, announces 2015 goals

Central Adirondack Partnership for the 21st Century (CAP-21) held its annual meeting in Thendara on Thursday, November 20, at Van Auken’s Inne.

Executive Director Nick Rose said it was a busy year working with towns from Forestport to Indian Lake.

Ad’k towns to weigh-in on economic development strategies

The Adirondack Partnership has been involved in a year-long process to create a Park-wide economic development strategy to promote measured, sustainable growth for the towns and villages within the Park.

Christina Ledo-Butterworth strikes balance as bodybuilding competitor

Christina Ledo-Butterworth competed in the National Physique Committee (NPC) Eastern Championships competition on November 8 at the Tribeca Performing Arts Centre in New York City where she took a second place finish in Bikini Class F.

As a Bombshell Fitness athlete competitor, she has competed in six contests since November 2013.

Schnell-Brakeley wed in Colorado

Maria and Harlan Schnell-Brakeley were married on May 10th, 2014 in Castle Rock, CO. The ceremony took place at St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church. Schnell-Brakeley wedding pix

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the beautiful Spruce Mountain Ranch nestled against the Rocky Mountains.

Maria is the daughter of Daniel and Priscilla Schnell of Elizabeth, CO. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a Masters Degree in Organizational Development and now works as a Senior Business Consul-tant for INFOR.  Continue reading →

Pre-Thanksgiving gathering slated for Niccolls Church

The community is invited to a Covered Dish Supper on Sunday, November 23 at noon at Niccolls Memorial Church, 228 Crosby Blvd., Old Forge.

The church’s fellowship team, Niccolls Neighbors, is planning the event and asks those attending to bring a place setting and a dish to share. Beverages and desserts will be provided. Continue reading →

True confessions of an unreformed waterholic

The dark cold months here in Woodgate inspire me to do something that rarely happens during the light warmth of summer: turn on the tube. We’re just not big television people because we spend most of our time outdoors.

So that’s how I happened to be watching 60 Minutes recently (bowed my head in a moment of silence for my hero Andy Rooney) when Leslie Stahl was conducting an interview on droughts and the fact that our planet is literally running out of water. Continue reading →
