Prizes awarded at 4th Annual CAPPY Duck Derby in Old Forge

The rainy day on Sunday, August 31 may have sent some visitors home earlier, but it did not deter the 2850-plus ducks that made their annual migration down the Moose River at the 4th annual CAPPY Duck Derby.

The event was a success, mostly due to all the volunteers who pitched in to make it work.

CAP-21 would like to express its appreciation to our wonderful duck volunteers, particularly Tim and Patty Foley, Sandy Booton, Mike Farmer and Martha Denio; to Ed Booton and Mike Cunningham for their finish line work with the CAPPY Duck Plucker; to the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, the Town of Webb Highway Department for their Duck Dumper, the Town of Webb Police Department; the Amy Lynn Duo for the inspirational duck music, and to all the CAPPY Round Up Kids who pitched in to corral the little runaways. Town of Webb Police Department reports enforcement activity

The Town of Webb Police Department reported the following activity for the period August 20 through September 2nd.

On August 22nd, at approximately 9 p.m. Ofc. AJ Silverman conducted a traffic stop on NYS Route 28 in Old Forge. Investigation revealed that the operator, a 20-year-old man of Ilion, was operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was issued traffic tickets for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd degree (misdemeanor) and several other traffic infractions all returnable to the Town of Webb Court at a later date.  Continue reading →

Taking a last peek at summer dwellings as season slips past

I came home from school that first real fall day, dropping my books on my bed. All were new and ready for wrapping in protective covers.

My dog Mutt nosed into my room as if asking to go out, probably for a peek at the lake.
