What is the difference between the hand rail and a guard? Almost everyone calls both the hand rail.
The guard is that area between the actual hand rail you grip and the bottom and applies to stairs.
All stairs require a hand rail; the obvious reason is for safety.
The guard area prevents someone from falling or slipping off the edge of the stairs under the hand rail. Continue reading
Utica College held its annual Convocation Ceremony on Monday, August 25, marking the official beginning of the college’s 68th academic year. New students, along with faculty, marched from the Academic Quad Rose Garden to the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center.

Funeral and memorial services were held in New Jersey and Florida for Gaston Robert Desnoyers (“Gas”) of Osprey Village, Amelia Island, FL, who passed away on August 16, 2014 at the age of 91 after a long and bravely fought battle with cancer. 
Gaston was born in on November 4, 1922 in Watchung, NJ. He was the oldest son of Martha and Albert Henry Desnoyers. Continue reading
Local musician Doug Green was the winner of the drawing for a Jasmine Dreadnought Guitar that was held at George’s Liquors in Old Forge on Monday, September 1st.

Doors to Town of Webb School UFSD opened for the 2014/2015 school year on Wednesday, September 3 with bus students and walkers being greeted at the school’s entrances by Superintendent Rex Germer and Principal John Swick.
This year’s enrollment is 277. Of the 91 elementary students, 18 are kindergartners. There are 186 students in grades six through 12, including the 26 seniors comprising the class of 2015.
New to the Town of Webb School staff are Tracy Deis, resource teacher for grades seven through 12; Loretta Gaffney, assistant to guidance counselor Kandis Griffin; and Chelsea Hanford, teacher’s assistant.
