VIEW: Sign up for teen & adult pottery

Megan Crimmins will instruct teen and adult wheel thrown pottery classes at VIEW on August 4, 5,6 and 8th from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

In this workshop students work at their own pace to explore their creativity and work toward project completion. All works will be glazed and fired for permanence and will be available the following week.   Continue reading

The Raquette Lake Parents Teachers and Friends will sponsor the 24th annual Arts and Crafts Fair at the Raquette Lake School on Rt. 28 on Saturday, August 9 from 10 a.m. to  4 p.m.

This is a juried show with all items being displayed for sale the work of the exhibitor on site, the majority of whom reside in the Adirondack Park.

Van Slyke to discuss 2014 Winter Olympic experience at Old Forge Library, Aug. 7th

Paul Van Slyke, of Lake Placid and Big Moose,  will give a power point presentation at the Old Forge Library on his experiences at the 2014 Winter Olympics on Thursday, August 7 at 7:30 p.m.

The program will include the alpine venue/courses, the Olympic facility and security, as well as a focus on the cultural experiences and people of Russia. Continue reading

McKeever Project…

Old Forge: Artists meet for Plein Air outing

The Mohawk Valley Artists, a group of professional and amateur artists who have met on Wednesdays for the past 10 years at the Kirkland Art Center, took their show on the road on Wednesday, July 30 to sculpt and paint in the plein air style along the Old Forge Pond. The artists’ annual picnic followed.

“The group always looks forward to this outing in the beautiful town of Old Forge,” said member Suzanne Firsching.

Inlet park concert set August 2

Jamie Notarthomas will perform during Inlet’s “Sunsets by the Lake” Summer Concert Series on Saturday, August 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Arrowhead Park Lakefront. All are invited to bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy the free concert and spectacular sunset. Rain location is Fern Park Pavilion.

This concert series is sponsored by the Town of Inlet, The Wine Shop, the Central Adirondack Association, The Adirondack Reader and French Louie ADK Sports.

Forestport: Memory of Harold Pier to be honored at Full Moon Kayaking Outing

The second annual Harold Pier Memorial Full Moon Kayaking Outing will be held Sunday, August 10 on the Forestport Pond.

Put-in begins at 6:30 p.m. at the River Street access and the Woodhull Street access, just past the turn to Forestport Station. Continue reading
