Loaves & Fishes Luncheon set Feb. 27

A Loaves & Fishes Café luncheon will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church on Crosby Blvd. in Old Forge on Thursday, February 27 at noon.

Neighbors from Woodgate to Raquette Lake are invited to come and  enjoy a free lunch of assorted soups, sandwiches, desserts and cold and hot beverages.

Transportation to the event can be arranged by calling Beverly Meeker at (315) 369-2234.

The Loaves & Fishes community luncheons are co-sponsored by Niccolls Memorial Church, St. Anthony’s and St. Bartholomew’s Catholic churches, as well as various community members.

View kicks off new artist-led lecture series on March 2nd

View invites the public to an ArtSpeak lecture, discussion, and luncheon with artist Christian Carson—whose series, Yardwork, is currently on view in the Henry M. Kashiwa Eco Gallery—on Sunday, March 2nd.

ArtSpeak is a new series of artist-led discussions on the creative and intellectual impulses that drives the individual artist’s work and research.

It will begin at 12:30 p.m with the luncheon and Carson’s program.

A guided tour of View’s LEED Silver-certified facility will follow at 2:30 p.m. Continue reading

Winter/Spring registration opens at the Old Forge Ballet Company

The School of the Old Forge Ballet Company announces Winter/Spring registration for new classes for beginners and students with previous training in Musical Theatre-Tap & Jazz, Ballroom, Introduction to Ballet and Children’s Ballet and Tap.

Regular ongoing classes also have room for new students. Classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Lower Level Company Ballet Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and Upper Level Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Pri-Primary Ballet for children ages three and four is held on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m.  Continue reading

Seth & Amanda Knoeller welcome son, Jase William

Seth and Amanda Knoeller of Old Forge, NY welcomed a son, Jase William, on December 24, 2013. Jase-9321-M

Jase was born at 8:45 a.m., weighing 5 lbs., 9.75 oz., and measuring 19 inches.

Grandparents are Todd and Lorie Brosemer of Old Forge, and Mark and Brenda Knoeller of Waterville.

Herkimer County HealthNet luncheon to recognize county-wide health initiatives

Herkimer County HealthNet will recognize child care facilities, farmers’ markets, municipalities, and non-profit organizations at its 3rd Annual Creating Healthy Places Recognition Luncheon on Friday, March 7th.

These entities and individuals will be honored for their efforts to improve parks, playgrounds and trails; developing healthier child care/day care programs; foster healthy eating; and enhance places to exercise in Herkimer county.

The event will be held at Francesca’s Banquets and Catering in Ilion. Continue reading
