Herkimer County HealthNet luncheon to recognize county-wide health initiatives

Herkimer County HealthNet will recognize child care facilities, farmers’ markets, municipalities, and non-profit organizations at its 3rd Annual Creating Healthy Places Recognition Luncheon on Friday, March 7th.

These entities and individuals will be honored for their efforts to improve parks, playgrounds and trails; developing healthier child care/day care programs; foster healthy eating; and enhance places to exercise in Herkimer county.

The event will be held at Francesca’s Banquets and Catering in Ilion.

The format of the event will consist of a meet and greet buffet lunch followed by an awards ceremony.

The Old Forge Farmers’ Market will be one of nine markets that will receive the Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play in Herkimer County award at the event.

Herkimer County HealthNet is a recipient of the NY State Department of Health Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play Grant.

The purpose of the grant is to support environmental and population-wide efforts that accelerate improvements in individual health behaviors and outcomes.

These efforts aim to increase physical activity and reduce sedentary behavior while increasing access to and consumption of healthy foods.
