Webb Community: Can we talk about our youths?

To the Editor:

Much of the town talk has taken a turn toward the candidates and their platforms in the upcoming elections. I am writing this with the hope of bringing issues of our young community to the table.

I hear talk about financial responsibility, affordable housing, elderly services, tourism, etc. All issues that need to be addressed and deserve community attention, but will anyone address the elephant in the room?   Continue reading

Webb School Board meets, readies for new academic year

The Town of Webb UFSD Board of Education held a meeting on Tuesday, September 1, where it took the following actions—which are summarized here by the district and do not represent official minutes.

Approved the Minutes of August 18, 2015 meeting.

Approved the Warrants.

Approved the Treasurer’s Reports for July 2015.

Acknowledged receipt of the Fact Finder’s Report.

Approved the Board Goals for the 2015-2016 school year. Continue reading

TOW Police Dept. reports recent activity

The Town of Webb Police Department has reported the following recent law enforcement activity.

• A 42-year-old Boonville man was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, 3rd following an incident that occurred on Friday, August 28 at 1:15 p.m.

According to the report, Webb Police conducted a traffic stop on defendant for several traffic infractions.  Continue reading

Janet Knapp, 87, passes away

Janet Knapp obit photoJanet Knapp passed away August 28, 2015 after a long battle with cancer, at her home in Old Forge with loved ones at her side. She was 87.

Janet was born in Glen Cove, NY to Marion and Harold Knapp.

She is predeceased by brothers Bruce Knapp and Dwight Knapp, sister-in-law Jet (Jeannette) Knapp and long time friend Ellie Lynch.   Continue reading
