The Kindergarten Meet and Greet took place Tuesday, 8/25. We have 17 incoming Kindergarteners this year. We welcome them to the Town of Webb Family.

First year teacher training took place today for all 8 of our new teachers. This training included a work with Schooltool, Google Apps for Education, setting up log-on information, pictures with the newspaper, paperwork, and a tour of the building.

We want to welcome all of our new faculty/staff to the district as we get started this week!

The Family Mailing Packet went out in the mail today and families have begun receiving it already.

We will be opening with faculty/staff on Thursday with a 7:45am start time involving a full day of training.

Orientation for our incoming 6th grade students will be on Thursday, 9/3, at 9am.

Orientation for our incoming 7th grade students from Inlet will be on Thursday, 9/3, at 10am.

We are opening school on Tuesday, September 8, and have a soccer game following at 4:30pm on our North Street Field.

Superintendent’s ReportMr. Rex Germer included the topics:

Another summer is winding to a close. A great deal of work has again occurred through the summer months as both general maintenance and upgrade items.

Thank you to our 12 month employees for working so hard to get us ready for another school year.

Our work on the columns will be continuing into the beginning of the school year.

The hope is that the bulk of the noisiest work can be accomplished in the next week and if not we will work hard to minimize the impact on our classrooms during instructional times.

The State has deadlines in place for us to come together with the teachers/Principal and negotiate a new APPR in accordance with 3012-d.

At this point we are expected to negotiate this new plan even though the final laws are still in public comment and not yet finalized themselves.

There will be the possibility to apply for a Hardship Waiver if Districts are not able to finalize new APPR plans locally through negotiations.

Receipt of a waiver would keep the former plan in place until a successor is approved by State Ed.

We welcome all of our new staff to the Town of Webb UFSD family. It is exciting to have this many new faces as we open. Many challenges will exist but the opportunities are great as well!

We look forward to seeing our students come through the doors next Tuesday morning as the 2015-2016 school year kicks off for our students.

An open mind, positive attitude and a willingness to work hard to learn will be some of the most important things we can ask our students to arrive at the door with.

We are all looking forward to this being a great collaborative year for our entire school community.

The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 6:30 pm in the library of the school.
