Interment set for Scott Hall

Scott L. Hall, 55, passed away at his Old Forge residence on Friday, March 27, 2015 following a heroic battle with cancer.

Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27 at Riverview Cemetery in Old Forge.

Donald O. Kress

Donald O. Kress, age 85 of Old Forge and formerly of Auburn died on May 22, 2015 at Sunset Nursing Home in Booneville after a brief illness.

Don was born in Manlius, NY on February 14, 1930, the son of Orthello and Jesse Everingham Kress.

He was educated in the Manlius Public School system, went to St. Lawrence University for one year, and then transferred to Cornell University, where he completed his studies and earned a degree in Labor and Industrial Relations. Continue reading

Gary E. Vaughn, 79, passes away

Gary E. Vaughn

Gary E. Vaughn, 79 of Jericho, VT and Old Forge passed away June 23, 2015 at Central Park Nursing Center in Syracuse. He was born in Utica on December 19, 1935, the son of Gardner B. and Ada Dolbear Vaughn of Old Forge.

He attended Town of Webb Schools graduating in 1954. He graduated from Norwich Univer-sity in Northfield, VT in 1958 as a 2nd Lt. in the United States Army.

In January 1960 Gary was chosen 1st alternate for the U.S. Men’s Alpine Ski Team for the 1960 Olympics held in Squaw Valley, CA. Continue reading

Woodgate Chapel: Leif Frymire preparing a fall mission trip to Belfast, Northern Ireland; presentation slated for July 5th

GWW_0375The First Presbyterian Church of Boonville will hold it regular Sunday morning worship on July 5 at the Woodgate Chapel in Woodgate.

Commissioned lay pastor George Whitton will lead worship at 10:30 a.m., and communion will be offered to all who would like it.

Also, at the service will be a presentation by Leif Frymire, who this fall will be moving to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he will be working with a local Presbytery and Community group that focuses on reconciliation and continued peace between the Roman Catholic and Protestant communities.  Continue reading
