Gary E. Vaughn, 79 of Jericho, VT and Old Forge passed away June 23, 2015 at Central Park Nursing Center in Syracuse. He was born in Utica on December 19, 1935, the son of Gardner B. and Ada Dolbear Vaughn of Old Forge.

He attended Town of Webb Schools graduating in 1954. He graduated from Norwich Univer-sity in Northfield, VT in 1958 as a 2nd Lt. in the United States Army.

In January 1960 Gary was chosen 1st alternate for the U.S. Men’s Alpine Ski Team for the 1960 Olympics held in Squaw Valley, CA.

Gary was the Golf Pro at Thendara Golf Club in Thendara from 1962 to 1965.

In 1964, he was an assistant ski coach at Dartmouth College and coached at Middlebury College from 1967 to 1968, coaching both varsity and freshman skiing. He later opened a sports shop at his home in Jericho, VT.

Gary is survived by his sisters Edythe V. (Tom) LeFebvre of Syracuse, and Sally R. Vaughn of Old Forge;  six nephews and one niece, three great nieces, five great nephews and many cousins. He is also survived by his former wife Sue Boudish Vaughn of Jericho, VT.

Gary was predeceased by his parents and his close friend Carol Mahoney of Underhill, VT.

There will be no calling hours. A private memorial will take place at the convenience of the family. Remembrances in Gary’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 441 West Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
