Prize money awarded at OFFD’s Annual Big Bucks Give-Away

The Old Forge Volunteer Fire Department’s Firefighter’s Drill School ‘14 wrapped up on Sunday, September 14 with the drawing for the winners in the Big Bucks Give-Away raffle.

A large crowd was gathered at the fire hall as Jamie Loson  pulled the winning names.

Taking the top prize of $9,158.50 was Arlene Bolmer of Old Forge.

The second place winner was Brian Murphy of Old Forge who won $4,931.50.

Richard Hyde of Old Forge won third prize of $4,227. Continue reading

Linking Lives through Reading set at Library

The fall session of the Linking Lives through Reading Program at the Old Forge Library is open to second graders in the Town of Webb and Inlet School Districts.

The inter-generational one-on-one reading program will be held each Thursday from Septem-ber 25 through October 30  from 3 to 4 p.m.

Call the Library at 369-6008 by  September 20  to register your second grader and/or to volunteer as a “Book Buddy.”

Adult Volunteers are always needed.

The program is made possible by the Leola Tobin Memorial Fund.
