Services held for Anthony J. Ponzio, 69

Anthony J. “Tony” Ponzio, 69, of Cicero and Old Forge, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Tony battled cancer for the past seven years with faith, courage and dignity.

He was born on October 14, 1944 to Nicolette and Victor Ponzio. Tony grew up on Syracuse’s North Side, graduating from North High School and attended Mohawk Valley Community College.

He was married to the love of his life and best friend, Diane. Together they raised two children, worked hard and had fun.  Continue reading

Private services planned for Eleanor P. Kula, 87

Eleanor P. Kula, age 87, of Whitesboro, NY, died on September 14, 2014, after a long illness, with her family at her side, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Norbert F. Kula; a daughter Joyce (Earl) Wells, Glenmoore, PA; a son, Robert (Marilyn) Kula, Whitesboro, NY; a grandson Matthew P. LaDuc, Indiana; in-laws, Thomas and Cecelia Pianella, Marcy, NY; their children; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick (Fritz) and Eva Karwacz Pelaw; a daughter Rhonda; and a granddaughter Danielle. Continue reading

Services scheduled for Mary M. Diamond, 84

Mrs. Mary (Maio) Diamond, age 84, of Old Forge, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014.

She was born on September 20, 1928, in Erie, PA, a daughter of John Maio and Mary Rodrigues Maio.

Mary worked for many years at Bendix, till she married on April 2, 1970.

Surviving is her husband, Edward; her four children, Mark, Stephanie, John, and Catherine; one sister, Elizabeth; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Continue reading
