Ladies From Syracuse: VIEW to host cabaret performance, September 18th

Ladies from Syracuse, a cabaret-style show featuring award-winning singers Karen Oberlin and Marissa Mulder will be performed at VIEW on Thursday, September 18.

The singers, accompanied by Bill Zeffiro on piano, will present a two hour concert of classic pop, jazz and musical standards.  Continue reading

State policies create local budget challenges

Dear Inlet Taxpayers:

I am sure that many of you are wondering why there was a substantial increase on your recent school tax bill, especially in light of the 2011 legislation that imposed the two percent tax levy limit on public school budgets. (This is slightly misleading because according to the Property Tax Cap Formula for the 2014-2015 school year, the Inlet Common School was only allowed a tax increase of 1.46 percent or about $19,000.) Inlet Fall Fest coming Sept. 20 & 21

The 21st Annual Inlet Fall Festival is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21 at Fern Park on South Shore Road.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Among the handcrafted items that will be available for sale throughout the weekend are rustic furniture, pottery, decorative home accents, clothing, maple syrup, jams and jellies, scented candles and photography.

There will also be children’s activities, raffles, live music, jugglers, book signings and food vendors.  Parking at Fern Park is limited but a free Shuttle Bus by Ted Payne’s Bus Service will be available both days providing rides from the Arrowhead Park parking area and the lot in front of the Woods Inn.

Cousins That Care: Spaghetti Dinner slated for September 14

The Cousins That Care will host their annual fundraising Spaghetti Dinner at the Ole Barn in Inlet on Sunday, September 14 beginning at 4 p.m.

The dinner will include spaghetti, meatballs, sausage, garlic bread, salad, dessert and beverage. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 10 and under. Children under the age of three are admitted free.  Take outs will be available.

Proceeds of the event will support the charitable work of The Cousins That Care, a group of seven young cousins who raise funds for  charities, scholarships, and families in need.
