Kate McCann Klaiber receives SUNY Chancellor’s Award of Excellence

Former Old Forge resident Kate McCann Klaiber was one of seven members of the Genesee Community College staff team recognized by State University of New York Chancellor Nancy Zimpher with the Chancellor’s Award of Excellence at a reception held at the school’s Batavia campus on Thursday, August 21st.

The award is given in recognition of consistently superior professional achievement and encourages the ongoing pursuit of excellence.

Klaiber, Assistant Professor of English, joined GCC in 2010 and teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) and Elementary English courses.  Continue reading

VIEW’s Annual Bistro & Gallery to feature music, dinner, dancing

The Danny Sinoff Quartet, a musical ensemble from Florida, will perform during VIEW’s annual Bistro and the Gallery event on Saturday, September 6th.

Gallery 3040: Meet celebrated photographer John Radigan on Friday, August 29th

An artist reception for celebrated photographer John Radigan will be held at Gallery 3040 in Old Forge on Friday, August 29 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Attendees will have the opportunity to view Radigan’s photographs and talk to the artist about his work while enjoying refreshments.

During the event, Radigan will unveil his latest endeavor, a large triptych work of art. He will also give away a print of his image, Clouds, to one lucky attendee. Continue reading

LETTER: Forestport public servants need to be efficient and responsible

To the Editor:

A Forestport Town Board member or a Town Employee has put themselves in a position of public trust. You must use your position and influence to be fiscally responsible and efficient with the limited public resources. You serve the public.

The interests of the Town must come before your own, not only in fact but also in appearance. Your actions should be above reproach. Continue reading
