I was informed recently that the Town of Webb is considering a fee for anyone attempting to go up and work on the communications tower at McCauley Mountain. This, to me, goes beyond disappointing to appalling.
Over the years, the antennas for the Emergency Services has been moved to the bottom of the tower to the point that the trees are higher than they are. Continue reading
MAC’s Safe Ride will host a hot breakfast buffet at the Old Forge Fire Hall prior to the start of the 90-Miler Canoe Classic on Friday, September 5th.
The breakfast will be held from 6 to 8 a.m. and the cost is $10 per person.
All proceeds will benefit MAC’s Safe Ride, a free alternative night-time transportation service that serves the Old Forge area.

Pedals & Petals of Inlet was recently named one of America’s Best Bike Shops for 2014 by the National Bicycle Dealers Association.
Of the approximately 4,000 bike shops in the United States, less than 300 were chosen to be named “America’s Best.”
To qualify for the honor, bike shop owners were asked to fill out a detailed application describing what sets them apart from the average store. Continue reading
An Opening Reception for the Pieces of Heart UCP Art Exhibit will be held at the Old Forge Library on Friday, September 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. 
The opening will be held in conjunction with the town-wide First Friday Art Walk.
Pieces of Heart is a creative expression program of Upstate Cerebral Palsy that features artistic works in a variety of media.

Any new single family dwelling addition, alteration or renovation that costs more than $20,000, NYS Law requires plans to be stamped by a NYS licensed Architect or Professional Engineer.
For a new home under 1500 sq ft, the requirement of stamped plans may be waived by the local Code Enforcement Officer. Continue reading
