VIEW sponsors trip to see An American Tragedy Opera at Glimmerglass

VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, has organized a bus trip to Glimmerglass Opera House in Cooperstown for the Monday, August 11 performance of Tobias Picker’s opera, An American Tragedy.

Tickets are $135 and include a round trip to Glimmerglass on a luxury coach, level II seating, and a carryout lunch from the Mountainside Smokehouse and Grill in Eagle Bay. The bus departs at 9:15 a.m. Continue reading

Time Warner drops WSYR from Old Forge cable lineup, but please try online

Town of Webb Supervisor Ted Riehle received the following letter that was forwarded by Susan M. Eckhardt, executive assistant for franchising of Time Warner Cable due to his inquiry on the recent blocking of ABC News Syracuse affiliate NewsChannel 9 from the local viewing line up.

Town of Webb Historical Auction set July 12

The Town of Webb Historical Association’s Annual Benefit Auction will be held on the grounds of the Goodsell Museum at 2993 State Route 28 in Old Forge on Saturday, July 12th.

Preview begins at 10 a.m. and Auctioneer June DeLair of the Constableville Auction Hall will start the bidding at 11 a.m.

Pictures of auction items can be viewed at the Goodsell Museum Facebook page, at webbhistory.org, and the Constableville Auction Hall website.

Proceeds of the auction will support the museum’s operating fund.

Letter to the Editor Remote communities need vigilance in addressing health needs

Two friends were visiting from Syracuse two weeks ago and phoned me to say that they were parked in front of the Fire Department looking for an EMT who could evaluate one of them to determine if she should go to an emergency room.

Niccolls’ Fashions by Lake returns to Old Forge on Wednesday, July 16

The Women’s Fellowship Group of Niccolls Memor-ial Presbyterian Church of Old Forge will be hosting their annual Fashions by the Lake benefit fashion show and luncheon on Wednesday, July 16th.

The event will take place at North Woods Inn on Fourth Lake and begins at noon.

Fashions will be provided by local shops and modeled by year-round and summer residents of the area.
