The Town of Webb Health Center Fund Annual Meeting will be held on Thursday, July 17, at VIEW, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Fund members are welcome to attend.

Webb health center welcomes technologist

St. Elizabeth Medical Center (SEMC) and its Medical Group announce that Alexandria Alsante, RT has joined the staff of the Town of Webb Health Center at 114 South Shore Road, Old Forge as a radiologic technologist/lab assistant.  

Alsante attended St. Elizabeth School of Radiography and is completing her degree at Mohawk Valley Community College.

Thomas Socash, MD, a longtime provider at the Town of Webb Health Center, continues to care for patients and St. Elizabeth Medical Center is continuing its efforts to recruit a second, full-time physician to assist the needs of the residents of the Town of Webb.

Town of Webb Health Center Fund, Inc.

The Town of Webb Health Center Fund, Inc. held its annual meeting on Thursday, July 18th. Three new directors were elected to the board: Barbara Ball, Kay Carmichael and Joe Phaneuf.

They are taking the places of retiring board members Barbara Getty, Loretta Kaye, and Paul Rivet.

The Board wishes to welcome the new and returning members to the board and to thank the retiring members for their dedicated service to the community for the past five years.

Following the annual meeting the regular July meeting took place and a new slate officers were elected. They are: Hazel Dellavia, president; Joe Phaneuf, vice president;

Leslie Beauchamp, treasurer; and Mary Jane Lasher, secretary.

The remaining members of the Board of Directors are: Kristin Helmer, Ron Leszyk, Matt Martin, Robert Moore, Greg O’Hara, Jodelle Pross, Mike Ross, Carolyn Trimbach, and Nancy Venetz.

Advisors to the Board of Directors are Dr. Joe Rintrona, Dr. Tom Socash and Supervising Nurse Laura Cooper.

Staff members are Kathy Riehle, recording secretary and Gillian Mead, office assistant.

The Town of Webb Health Center Fund Board of Directors look forward to serving the surrounding communities for the upcoming year.

With contract details solidifying between St. Elizabeth Medical Center and the Town of Webb, regarding the providing of local health care services, the board of the Town of Webb Health Center Fund has been discussing its role, which is certain to change with the new arrangement.

Webb board considers two health center proposals, agrees to move toward contract with St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center

The Town of Webb Board voted unanimously on Tuesday to open negotiations with St. Elizabeth Medical Center toward a final contract that would establish a new public health services arrangement at the Professional Offices building in Old Forge.

The arrangement would have St. E’s managing all heath care offerings and allow the Town of Webb to effectively “get out of the health care business,” according to town Supervisor Ted Riehle, who said the town is ill-equipped to continue its historic support role.

The health care climate has changed and the longtime partnership between on site health providers and the town is no longer feasible, added Councilman Mike Ross.

The decision process started on Monday, May 7, when representatives from St. E’s and another potential service provider—Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare—presented proposals to the town board. Continue reading

Individuals urged to return Webb health surveys as deadline nears

The Webb and Adirondack Communities Health Care Research Committee would like to remind taxpayers and visitors of the townships of Webb, Inlet, Long Lake (Raquette Lake), and Forestport (Woodgate, White Lake and Otter Lake), that the deadline for completion of the Town of Webb Health Care Survey is Friday, February 17.

Surveys were mailed to taxpayers in mid-January, and also appeared in local papers. Continue reading
