Briana Brownsell awarded St. Lawrence scholarship

St. Lawrence University has awarded the Augsbury/ North Country Scholarship to Briana Brownsell, an in-coming senior at Town of Webb School.

This scholarship is awarded to a student who has a 90 or higher grade point average in a challenging curriculum.  Continue reading

Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church hosting Alternative Marketplace on Sunday, July 13th

The Old Forge community and visitors are invited to the Fellowship Hall of Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church from 8 to 9 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, for an Alternative Marketplace where fair trade coffee and crafts from around the world are sold.

The Alternative Market-place offers a range of Fair Trade products and crafts which assure small farmers and artisans fair compensation for their labor.  Continue reading

Old Forge sets lakefront concert Sunday, July 13

The Swamp Drivers will perform at the Old Forge Lakefront on Sunday, July 13 at 7 p.m. as part of the Summer Concert Series sponsored by the Town of Webb.

Everyone is welcome for this free concert and all should bring a chair or a blanket.

VIEW: Duo Sonidos & Friend performing on Saturday, July 12

Duo Sonidos, comprised of violinist William Knuth and  guitarist Adam Levin, will perform in concert at VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, on Saturday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Goodsell Museum Mini Golf Tourney set July 17

The Town of Webb Historical Association invites all to participate in its inaugural Miniature Golf Tournament on Thursday, July 17 at Nutty Putty Mini Golf on Route 28 in Old Forge.

The event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. and two-man teams can register to play for $20 per person. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, a hotdog or hamburger, and a beverage. Continue reading

Services held for Norman T. Burak, 76

Norman T. Burak, 76, of Halfmoon, NY died on Saturday June 28, 2014 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes after a long illness. He was born in Utica, NY on August 10, 1937 and was the son of the late Walter and Caroline Karwacz Burak.  Norm Burak

Norman graduated from Utica Free Academy, Morrisville College with his associates degree in automotive technology and Clarkson University, where he received his bachelors in mechanical engineering. He then received his masters degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.   Continue reading
