Free Nutcracker tickets available for children

Children under the age of 12 will be admitted free to the 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. performances of The Old Forge Ballet Co.’s production of The Nutcracker ballet on Saturday, December 7.

The opportunity is made possible through the generosity of Friends of the Old Forge Ballet Company, said Ballet School Director Sue Ann Lorenz Wallace, who feel it is important to make the cultural event available to more young people in the community. Continue reading

New supervisor Parker Snead wins election by eight votes

Parker Snead was named the winner of the Town of Forest-port Supervisor’s race following the opening of absentee ballots by the Oneida County Board of Elections on Friday, November 15.

Snead edged out incumbent Bill Hasenauer by eight votes, receiving a total of 308 votes to Hasenauer’s 300. The third candidate, Robert Seager, received a total of 116 votes.

Unofficial results following the Tuesday, November 5 election had Snead ahead of Hasenauer by five votes.

The White Otter Fish and Game Club of Woodgate expresses its sincere appreciation to the members and other volunteers who made its recent Harvest Supper a success. Close to 200 people were fed, the most in recent years.

Inlet seeking entries for Best Holiday Pie Contest

As part of the Adirondack Christmas on Main Street celebration, Inlet will be looking for a holiday pie to be proud of.

Bake your favorite pie and bring it to the Inlet Town Hall by 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 29 to be judged by some of Inlet’s true pie lovers who will determine which pie will be called “Inlet’s Best.”

Judging begins at 4:30 p.m. and all are invited to come by for samples of the entries.
