Town board grants conditional approval for next summer’s Forge Fest concert

Preliminary approval with conditions was granted by the Town of Webb Board for Adirondack Specialty Events to hold Forge Fest next summer at the North Street Recreation Center.

Forge Fest is a daylong outdoor concert event, which started this summer in Old Forge.

Councilwoman Kate Russell and Councilman Mike Ross served as town board delegates to discuss concerns and possible improvements to the event for 2012.

To better contain the sound of the live bands, the promotion company, which consists of Donna Pohl, Jim Connerty, Dennis Michael and Jane Slack, has agreed to turn the stage away from neighboring homes. Continue reading

Barnstormers Plan Meeting

The Inlet Barnstormers Snowmobile Club will hold its first meeting of the season on Tuesday, October 18 at 7 p.m. at the Inlet Town Hall. The club welcomes new members, and all are welcome to attend.

Webb Board approves contract for Paddlefest after much discussion

Representatives of the Town of Webb Board met with John Nemjo and his attorney, Tim Foley, recently to discuss an agreement between the two parties for future Paddlefest events, according to Webb Councilwoman Kate Russell who, along with Councilman Mike Ross, took part in the meeting. A Message from Assessor Jean Murdock

Still wondering about the Town of Webb’s 2012 Revaluation? Two informational meetings scheduled for property owners

Have you been busy this summer working/ running your business? To accommodate your schedules, two additional opportunities to learn about the revaluation process are being offered for Town of Webb property owners.

Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at 5:30 p.m. A general informational meeting is being offered at the Park Ave. Building.

A status report will be provided by Jean Murdock, Assessor including a timeline review and other information that will assist you in reviewing your assessment and that of other property owners.

Robert Koszarek, President of the KLW Group will provide an update on the activities and progress being made in preparation for new assessments.

Thursday, October 20, 2011, at 7:30 a.m. A meeting will be held for commercial property owners at the Park Ave. Building.

At this meeting Mr. Koszarek will provide a more specific, detailed explanation of the valuation process for commercial properties; he will be reviewing specific examples of different types of commercial properties. This will include the use of the income approach to valuation.

I strongly urge all property owners to attend one of these meetings to hear first-hand the facts regarding the Assessment Equity Project.

Webb joins revitalization project centered on 90-Miler water route

The Town of Webb has agreed to work toward improving the 90-Mile Canoe Trail-which starts in Old Forge and runs through Saranac Lake-as a recreational resource and to promote it better to water-recreation enthusiasts.

Webb will be doing this with other communities along the water route, including the towns of Inlet, Long Lake, Harrietstown, and North Elba, as well as the villages of Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake.

Town of Webb receives 2012 tentative budget. Two percent tax cap requirement adds new wrinkle

The Town of Webb Board has received the town’s Tentative Budget for 2012 and met to discuss it on Thursday, October 13.

“In a nutshell, this budget will probably be pretty standard. At this juncture I would call it raw information on proposed expenditures for 2012,” said Town Supervisor Robert Moore.

However, unlike previous years, the Town of Webb is faced, as are municipalities, with the task of working with a State-mandated two-percent tax cap that was put into law this year. Continue reading
