It was a very nice week weather-wise with only a few showers, but the nights have been cool.
It takes hot days and warm nights to get those blackflies cooked up…then it won’t be long and the noseums will be out.

New York State Boater Safety Courses are being offered in Raquette Lake and Inlet in June and July.
The NYS Boater Safety Certificate is required for boat operators ages 10 to 18 and adults operating solo, and mandatory for all PWC operators from ages 14 to adult.
At the Town of Webb Board’s June 10th meeting, Supervisor Ted Riehle acknowledged a letter written by Anne Garbarino, that was published recently in The Weekly Adirondack.
He said he agreed with her complaint about the abhorrent state of Route 28, and he encouraged others to follow her lead by calling of Department of Transportation (DOT) representatives and local elected officials.
Additionally, Riehle said he would also like to add two names to her contact list. Those displeased with road conditions on Route 28, should also contact Senator Hugh Farley at (518) 455-2181, and DOT long-term planning director, Alice Ramanych at (315) 793-2450.
The Town of Webb Union Free School District has announced Samantha Notley and Jordan Levi as its academic leaders for the graduating Class of 2014.
Samantha Notley
Samantha Notley, daughter of Wanda and Mike Notley of Old Forge, has been named this year’s Valedictorian with a weighted average of 97.414.
Samantha has attended the Town of Webb school since kindergarten, and finishes ranked number one in her class of twenty-four students.
She has served as a student representative of Key Club since her freshmen year, where she averaged twenty community service hours annually. Continue reading
Michael Leach, a retired Captain with the Rochester Police Dep-art-ment, pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide on Wednesday, June 4, having been charged by authorities in the shooting death of his son in 2012, an incident that occurred at Clark’s Beach Motel in Old Forge.
The plea was heard in Herkimer County Court by Judge John Crandall.
Leach had been facing a trial by prosecutors, charging him with second degree murder. Continue reading
