Old Forge Library to unveil ‘100 Plus Celebration Tree’ at reception

The Old Forge Library will host a reception to unveil the “100 Plus Celebration Tree” on Friday, July 17 at the Library.

The tree will provide a unique way to honor, acknowledge and memorialize community members and local businesses for their support of the library and its programs.

The Celebration Tree is a project initiated by the Mulvihill family to honor the library as it embarks on its second hundred years of serving the community.  Continue reading

Children’s Reading Program kicks off July 2nd at library

The Old Forge Library children’s summer reading program will be held Thursdays in July from July 2 through July 30 from noon to 1 p.m.

The theme of this year’s program is Every Hero has a Story, and a variety of activities for children pre-k ages and up are planned.

Children kindergarten age and younger must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

There will be refreshments and prizes awarded during the final session.

The finale will also feature storyteller Jeannine Laverty who will perform in the Gazebo at noon. The performance is open to the public.

The Summer Reading Program is funded by The Town of Webb Recreation Program.

Old Forge Library Gazebo Bluegrass artist to perform on June 26

The Old Forge Library invites all to enjoy live music  on the library grounds on Friday, June 26 featuring musician Nick Piccininni, a master of the 5-string banjo.

The performance is part of the library’s “Meet Me at the Library Gazebo at 5” series and will take place from 5 to 7 p.m.

Piccininni will sing many of his own original songs while playing on the acoustic guitar.  Continue reading

Library to present Gazebo Music Series from May to September

The Old Forge Library will present a series of live music performances at the library’s front lawn gazebo on the fourth Friday of each month from May through September.

The series, Meet Me at the Library Gazebo at 5, will be held from 5 to 6 p.m.

Kicking off the series on Friday, May 22 will be Adirondack duo, Jim and Bonnie Tracy.

The couple have been playing music together since 1979.  Continue reading

Kids Earn Babysitting Certificates at Library

Open Mic Night for writers planned at Old Forge Library, May 20

Writers, aspiring writers, songwriters and members of the public are invited to share their own work, or to just come and listen to others, at an Open Mic Night at the Old Forge Library on Wednesday, May 20.

Featured reader and emcee will be Cheryl Pula. A native of New York Mills, Pula is a retired reference librarian, lecturer and history buff.  Continue reading
