There will be something for everyone at the Old Forge Library’s Annual Bash, according to Paula Weal, president of the Friends of the Library, sponsor of the event.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday, August 16, and already Weal is overwhelmed by the generosity of area businesses that have donated gift certificates for the fund-raising effort.
“They are asked by many organizations to aid in fund-raising projects, and they always respond whole heartedly,” she said.
Among the gift certificates available are two all-day passes to Enchanted Forest Water Safari, and a River & Rail a day pass for four from Tickner’s Canoes which includes two canoe rentals on the Moose River and a rail pass from Adiron-dack Scenic Railroad.
There is also a golf pass for two at Thendara Golf Club that includes a cart rental; Strand Theatre movie passes with refreshments; and a manicure and pedicure package from Over the Moon Salon.
Weal is also amazed at the donations of artwork available for auction.
Among those who have shared their work in support of the fundraiser are The Mountain Painters, the local plein air group that meets every Thursday, and pastel artist Paula Ford.
Also, John Radigan, David Patterson and Susan Kiesel—all award-winning photographers—have donated to the cause.
“It is looking very ‘artsy’ for the raffle. The Bash will have a new look this year and we will be having a very special raffle the day of the event,” Weal said.
Tickets can be purchased for $2 each or six for $10 up until August 16 when the winning tickets will be drawn.
The Bash will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. and includes refreshments.
A donation of $15 is requested.
The Bash, along with the annual Book Sale, are the primary sources of income for the Friends who use the funds to support library programs such as the Poetry and Illustration Program, the Adirondack Lecture Series, the Author’s Fair, and The Bookmark, the library newsletter.
