Kiwanis Club of Central Adirondacks inducts Robert Gates as new member

Robert Gates of Old Forge was inducted as a new member of the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks at an event held at Covey-Pashley Old Forge American Legion Post on Monday, November 24.

Kiwanis toy collection for Kids Project beginning throughout area

Each year the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks collects and distributes gifts and toys to special families in the Woodgate, White Lake, Otter Lake, Thendara, Old Forge, Eagle Bay, Inlet and Raquette Lake areas.

This year’s effort will also serve Long Lake and Indian Lake. Continue reading

Briana Brownsell named Kiwanis Student of Month

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks has announced that its Student of the Month for November is Briana Brownsell. Briana is the daughter of Tim and Jill Brownsell of Inlet and is a senior at Town of Webb Union Free School.IMG_3636

Annual Kids Day in Inlet celebrates Adirondack activities

Adirondack Kids Day, an Inlet event that celebrates the outdoor activities described in the Adirondack Kids series of books by authors Gary and Justin VanRiper, was enjoyed by children of all ages on Saturday, October 4th.

The day of family fun, co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks, included a demonstration of birds of prey, a slide on Wildlife in the Adirondacks, horseback riding, and a petting zoo featuring the animals of the local Moose River Farm. Continue reading

Kiwanis Club to host dinner for prospective members

Central Adirondack Kiwanis Club invites prospective members to a Pizza and Wings Dinner at Old Forge American Legion Post 893 on Thursday, September 18 at 6 p.m.

During the dinner, current Kiwanis members will conduct a regular meeting and brief prospective members on the many child-oriented programs sponsored by the club.

Kiwanis is a global organization of nearly 600,000 members that annually raises more than $100 million and dedicates more than 18 million volunteer hours to strengthen communities and serve children.

One Square Mile of Hope: Kiwanis announces local beneficiaries

The One Square Mile of Hope Committee has announced that a portion of the proceeds from its September 13 vent will be donated to the Foundation for Upstate Medical University, the only hospital caring for adults and children with cancer in a 20 county area. Continue reading
