Kiwanis: Tyler Fenton recognized as March Student of the Month

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adiron-dacks has announced that its Student of the Month for March is Tyler Fenton.

Tyler is the son of William and Madeline Fenton of Old Forge and is a senior at Town of Webb Union Free School.

The Student of the Month is a program initiated by the Kiwanis Club, in cooperation with the Town of Webb School, that recognizes senior students.  Continue reading

Kiwanis raises $1,750 for Christmas Kids effort

Members of the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks collected over $1,750 at Snodeo in support of the organization’s Christmas for Kids Project.

Bob Stanton and Chris Kraft, co-chairpersons of the collection, expressed their thanks to the many Kiwanis members who spent time at Snodeo and all the very generous visitors to the 39th Annual Snodeo event.

Each Christmas, Central Adirondack Kiwanis provides gifts, toys, mittens and food for over 975 gifts to over 325 kids in the Central Adirondacks through the charitable program.

Holiday weekend volunteers raise over $1,300 for Salvation Army

Members of the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks and Knights of Columbus raised over $1,300 in funds for the Salvation Army over the Old Forge Adirondack Christmas on Main Street weekend, November 27, 28 and 29th.

Bell-ringer volunteers spent over 60 hours collecting funds over the weekend in front of Walt’s Diner and Souvenir Village.

“Kiwanis and our local community are pleased that with the generous contributions of the many visitors, tourists and local citizens to the Salvation Army. The funds raised will be used in the Central Adirondack area during the entire year to assist Central Adirondack families in need,” said Bill Ransom, coordinator of the project.

The Deacons of Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge will continue the effort  on Saturday, December 12th.

Kiwanis: Mara Gaffney recognized as October Student of the Month

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks has announced that its Student of the Month for October is Mara Gaffney.

Mara is the daughter of Michael and Loretta Gaffney of Old Forge and is a senior at Town of Webb Union Free School.

Central Ad’k Kiwanis: Carolyn Trimbach honored with New York District Award

Central Adirondack Kiwanis member Carolyn Trimbach was presented a special award by Duane Niemi, Central Division Lt. Governor, during a dinner held at Van Auken’s Inne on Monday, September 28th.

Trimbach, a past president of Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks and past Lt. Governor of the Central Division, was recognized for her efforts of serving Kiwanis Central Division during the 2013 to 2014 program year.

The Central Division includes clubs in Old Forge, Boonville, Frankfort, Lake Delta, Frankfort, Clinton, Westmoreland and Utica.

“It is a pleasure to present this special award to Carolyn recognizing her continuing efforts on behalf of Kiwanis and the children served by the Kiwanis organization,” Niemi said.

Jane Slack was presented the Kiwanian of the Year Award for 2014–2015 at a Recognition Dinner held Monday, September 28 at Van Aukens Inne.

The award was presented to Slack, treasurer of the organization, by Kiwanis President Michael Griffin, who cited her for providing the talent and financial expertise in managing the finances for One Square Mile of Hope for the past two years.  Continue reading

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks installed new officers and directors for 2015–2016 during a recognition dinner held at Van Auken’s Inne on Monday, September 28th.

Officers for the program year beginning October 1, 2015 are: President – Mike Griffin, Vice President – Dee Kraft, Treasurer – Jane Slack, and Secretary – Bob Van Slyke.  Continue reading
