Webb Board of Education hosts community talk: Concerned citizens swap thoughts on local Pre-K

The Town of Webb UFSD Board of Education invited the community to its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 17 to gather comments regarding the implementation of a pre-kindergarten program at the school.

The discussion was prompted by a request by a Town of Webb parent who recently approached the board on considering such a program.

Board President Julie Zaykoski began the open forum by stating that the purpose of the discussion was to gather facts which might help to determine the viability of such a program as it pertains to class sizes, cost, curriculum, and perhaps most importantly, need.

Lorraine Stripp Memorial Scholarship: Kinderwood now accepting donations

The Kinderwood Board of Directors has established a scholarship fund in the name of Lorraine Stripp, a longtime aide with the Kinderwood Preschool Program, who passed away on July 31, 2011.

The on-going fundraiser will support scholarships for Kinderwood students in need. To date, the organization has raised $3,145 for the cause, and donations continue to be accepted.

“Think ahead for Christmas. It would be a great way for Kinderwood alumni, or their parents, to memorialize a great lady who did so much for our early education program,” said Kinderwood board member, Sharon Finkle-Kleps.

Your tax-deductible donations can be sent to: Kinderwood, P.O. Box 255, Old Forge, NY 13420.
