Webb voters approve school budget, elect Garbarino and Nahor to Board of Education

Voters in the Town of Webb UFSD voted to adopt the 2014-2015 school budget of $8,109,420 by a 294 to 72 margin on Tuesday, May 20th. The proposition to establish a General Capital Reserve Fund was also passed with 273 voting yes to the proposal and 82 against.

In a history-making race that saw five write-in candidates seeking two seats on the Board of Education, Kathy Nahor will fill the remainder of one five-year term which runs from May 20, 2014 through June 30, 2018, earning 135 votes.

Town of Webb UFSD Board of Education seeking candidates for write-in election to two board seats; vote set for May 20th

Voters will have the opportunity to elect two Town of Webb UFSD Board of Education members at the budget vote on Tuesday, May 20th.

Nominating petitions for the two Board of Education seats were not submitted prior to the April 21 deadline, therefore, on May 20, voters will decide on the name of the candidates for these two seats by “Write-In” vote.

Each vacancy will be filled by the qualified individual with the most “Write-In” votes. Continue reading →

Anne Garbarino announces write-in candidacy, 5-yr. term

Old Forge resident Anne Garbarino will be a write-in candidate for the five-year position on the Town of Webb UFSD Board of Education.IMG_9168*******

Born, raised and educated in Utica, Garbarino is a 1966 graduate of St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN. She received her Masters in Teaching from Oklahoma City University in 1974.

Prior to becoming a full-time resident of Old Forge in 2002 when she and her late husband purchased Four Seasons Cottages on Fourth Lake, she had a 30-plus-year career as a pre-school and elementary school teacher, as well as instructing high school social studies. Certified in several states, she has taught in Toronto, Texas, Virginia and Massachusetts. She is also a certified Montesorri teacher. Continue reading →

Town of Webb UFSD Superintendent comments on taxpayer rebates and school’s silver badge award, reminds voters of coming budget hearings

Information is beginning to be further disseminated regarding the tax rebate that has been put in place. It is being fairly widely stated that if Districts stay under the tax levy limit (“cap”) the taxpayers of the District will see a rebate in the form of a check for the amount they saw as an increase associated with this year’s proposed tax levy increase most likely right around election time this November.

Congratulations to the Teachers, Students, support staff and the entire school community for again being recognized as one of US News and World Reports top High Schools in their annual ranking and report.  Continue reading →
