Low water level an unpleasant surprise

To the Editor:

Having traveled 2,500 miles to enjoy our summer at camp in Old Forge was I ever surprised to find nothing under my dock on the Channel but mud. I had cheered local businesses all winter as I read reports of plentiful snow. Where did it go?

If I were a cynic I might suspect a plot to suppress news of the lack of water. This has to be the story of the spring. Where is the reporting? What happened? What is the prognosis for the summer? What is the economic impact if boat owners cannot put their boats in the water? Is the diving platform at the Town Beach in deep enough water to be safe?

So many questions, so few answers.
