One of the events held in conjunction with Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company’s annual Adirondack Paddlefest, held in Old Forge the weekend of May 15, 16 and 17, was the 2nd Annual Adirondack Kayak Fishing Tournament.

Following the two-day tournament, Rich Nelson of Old Forge took the top prize, a Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 Angler model kayak valued at $1,045, with his 32.5-inch-long Northern Pike.  Continue reading →

Old Forge: Paddlefest returns to the area for 17th year

Adirondack Paddlefest, which will be held in Old Forge on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 15, 16 and 17, is America’s Largest On-Water Canoe, Kayak and Stand-Up-Paddleboard (SUP) Demo and Sale and features over 30 leading manufacturers of canoes, kayaks, SUPs and accessories.  Continue reading →

10th Annual ‘Paddle for the Cure’ set in Old Forge on Sept. 20th

Paddle for the Cure, a breast cancer awareness event held in support of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of CNY, Inc., will be held at Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company on Saturday, September 20th.

The event, celebrating its 10th anniversary, features a leisurely paddle on the Moose River.

This will be the sixth consecutive year that Mountain-man has sponsored Paddle for the Cure.  Continue reading →

Saturday, July 20th: Mountainman Outdoor Supply Co. to host SUP Festival, Competition

Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company will host the 2nd Annual New York SUP Festival on Saturday, July 20 at the Old Forge lakefront and at Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company on Route 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The event will include races, free demos, clinics and instruction on stand up paddleboards and is designed to introduce the public to the enjoyment of stand up paddleboarding as a fitness opportunity.

SUP is a simple, easy to learn watersport that offers a full body workout.

An SUP is essentially an oversized surfboard that is specifically designed for use on either flatwater or surf.  Continue reading →
