One of the many activities that were scheduled in Old Forge over the inaugural Red, White & Blue, Spring into Summer event held over Memorial Day Weekend was a Fishing Derby at the navigation docks on Old Forge Pond on Sunday, May 24.

The derby was conducted by NYS DEC Officer Russ Ritzel and his son, Rusty with assistance by Mike and Chase Greene.  Continue reading

Rich Nelson’s catch wins Adirondack Kayak Fishing Tournament

One of the events held in conjunction with Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company’s annual Adirondack Paddlefest, held in Old Forge the weekend of May 15, 16 and 17, was the 2nd Annual Adirondack Kayak Fishing Tournament.

Following the two-day tournament, Rich Nelson of Old Forge took the top prize, a Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 Angler model kayak valued at $1,045, with his 32.5-inch-long Northern Pike.  Continue reading

Thank you for Memorial Fishing Derby support

The Ken Lyon Sr. Memorial Ice Fishing Derby was held on February 28 and March 1. His family and friends would like to thank all of those who participated.
