Melissa Murphy, Cameron Lenci named Kiwanis/PBA Students of Year

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks and The Town of Webb Police Benevolent Association has announced that Melissa Murphy and Cameron Lenci have been selected  Town of Webb School Students of the Year for 2014/15.

Melissa, the daughter of Donald and Lisa Murphy of Old Forge, was Kiwanis Student of the Month for October 2014.

Cameron, the son of Dawn Lenci of Old Forge and Scott Lenci of Hamden, NY, was Student of the Month for April 2015.

Melissa is the Kiwanis Student of the Year and Cameron is the Town of Webb Police Benevolent Association Student of the Year. They are both seniors at TOW School.

Melissa and Cameron will be recognized at the Kiwanis Recognition Event on Sunday, June 7 at Van Auken’s Inne.

They will each receive an award certificate and a $500 scholarship to be used for further education.

The event will be at 5:30 p.m. and the public is invited. In addition, there will be awards for the Winter Sports Challenge fund-raising event and other Kiwanis awards, including Kiwanian of the Year.

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks, with the cooperation of the Town of Webb Union Free School, initiated a Student of the Month/Year recognition program, for the school year 2007–2008, for Senior Students at the school.

The selection criteria for the Kiwanis Student of the Month/Year are community service, academics, athletic involvement, student need and extracurricular activities.

Each month from October to April the school administrators have selected a Student of the Month.

Each of those students received an award certificate and $50, and with their parents were invited to a monthly Kiwanis event to make a brief presentation.

Students of the month for the 2014–2015 school year were: October, Melissa Murphy; November, Briana Brownsell; December, Adam Levi; January, John Gaffney; February, Connor Glasser; March, Tyler McGough; and April, Cameron Lenci.
