Grief support group to meet at Niccolls Church

A six-session grief support group will begin meeting on Monday, May 11 from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. at Niccolls Memorial Church, 228 Crosby Blvd., Old Forge.

The group will meet once per week, with the following five sessions taking place on Tuesdays, May 19, 26 and June 2, 9 and 16.

Facilitated by Lani Ulrich, the group is designed for any adult at any stage of grief and loss.  Continue reading

Raquette Lake readies Pitch and Potluck

The Raquette Lake Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will host a Pitch Tournament and Texas Hold’em fundraising event at 5 p.m. at the Raquette Lake Fire Hall on Wednesday, May 13.

The event will include a pot luck supper and all are asked to bring a dish to pass and beverages of choice. The cost to play cards is $10.

CAP-21: Info session for non-profits rescheduled

The information session geared for representatives of community non-profit organizations that was to be held at the Old Forge Library on Tuesday, May 12 has been rescheduled for Thursday, June 4 at 1 p.m.

The program, hosted by Adirondack Foundation and CAP-21, will offer information on ways Adirondack Gives can provide non-profit organizations with free on-line fundraising dedicated to specific purposes.  Continue reading

Dibble & Grueniger to wed

Robert and Cathy Dibble of Old Forge announce the engagement of their son, Justin Dibble, to Erika Grueniger, daughter of Mr. Rolf Grueniger and Ms. Mary Grueniger of Lindenhurst, NY.

The couple met at their alma mater, Oswego State University, in Oswego, NY. The future groom is a New York State Trooper.

His fiancée recently received a Master of Science degree in curriculum and instruction from Saint Rose University and is an elementary school teacher.

A July 2015 wedding is planned at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Ballston Spa, NY.

Town of Webb students participate in Kiwanis Leadership Program

Town of Webb School students and Kiwanis Key Club members Madison Rice, Rebecca Sessions, Ashley Eisenhart and Montana Burrell attended the New York State Kiwanis Key Leader Program at Camp Stella Maris in Livonia, NY over the weekend of May 1, 2 and 3.

The students were sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks.

Madison and Rebecca both participated in the program last year and worked as facilitators to help with the group meetings and leadership workshops.

Key Leader is a Leadership Training Program for high school students ages 14 to 18 years old. Key Leader provides both a classroom component, and hands-on outdoor workshops which reinforce the classroom teachings.

Students learn integral life skills focused on Integrity, Community Building, Pursuit of Excellence, Personal Growth and Respect.

Services set for Kenneth L. Pace, 87

Kenneth L. Pace, 87, of Eagle Bay, NY, and Naples, FL, formerly of Rome, passed away on, Monday, May 4, 2015 in Naples, FL.

He was born February 12, 1928 in Rome and graduated from Rome Free Academy.

On April 7, 1953 he married Rachel Narehood, she passed away on August 30, 1974.  Continue reading
