VIEW: Registration open for new workshops

Registration is currently open for upcoming workshops at VIEW, the multi-arts center located at 3273 State Rt. 28 in Old Forge, NY.

• Linda Allen of Adirondack Basketry will instruct a Miniature – Triple Step Little Basket workshop on Saturday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This little basket is perfect for holding trinkets, rings or something special for little ones. Start weaving with the base and spokes already glued in by Linda prior to class. The design is woven with cotton cord and finished with a folded rim.

Workshop fee is $60 or $45 for VIEW members, plus a $25 materials fee.

Girl’s Night Out returns on Thursday, May 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. This month features Yoga and A Floral Ceramic Platter Workshop

The evening will begin with a fun, soothing 45-minute yoga session suitable for all levels and abilities.

Following, relax with a glass of wine, a hot cup of tea, and some treats and create a painted floral ceramic platter.

The fee is $35 or $30 for VIEW members.

• Spend two days drawing and watercolor painting at a workshop, Painting the Urban Landscape, instructed by award-winning artist, designer and illustrator Roger De Muth on Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Drawing from locations in Old Forge, students will return to the classroom to paint.

Class time includes demonstrations of drawing techniques, composition, watercolor techniques, laying out the palette, brushes, and a talk about pigment, paper, and ways of working.

De Muth, who recently retired from Syracuse University where he was a Professor of Illustration for 35 years, will be the Juror of Awards for this summer’s 34th Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors.

The fee, which includes lunch both days, is $250 or $200 for VIEW members.

Space is limited and advanced registration is required for the workshops.
