Community Pride Day: Sponsors and volunteers sought for May 6th event

Community Pride Day, the 14th annual clean-up day that involves the communities of Thendara, Old Forge, Eagle Bay, Big Moose, Inlet, Raquette Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Long Lake, Indian Lake, and Speculator, is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6.

Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and a free lunch for their efforts.

All sponsors contributing at least $30, and anyone who contributes towards lunch, will get a one line mention (name only or website only) printed on the back of the event shirts.  Continue reading

Sackett Tech Center of Glenfield, were among the 52 students and six advisors who participated in the 2015 SkillsUSA Regional Competition at Morrisville State College on Friday, February 27. Ethan Proper PFC Bravo Company 1st Battalion, graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island in South Carolina on January 30, 2015.

PFC Proper is a 2012 graduate of Camden Central School and a 2014 graduate of SUNY Morrisville.

Family pays tribute to late father, Ed Diamond

Edward J. Diamond of Old Forge, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2015, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, surrounded by the love of his family. He was predeceased last September by his wife of many years, Mary.

Ed was born on March 2, 1926, in Utica, the son of the late Augustus and Monica (Sobja) Diamond. His father immigrated from Greece and his mother from Poland.  Continue reading
