J. Claude Lecours: Library lecture to honor local logger’s legacy

The Old Forge Library will honor the memory of J. Claude Lecours with a memorial lecture on Friday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. This ‘Men of Mettle’ lecture will present the results of a recent study of innovative logging contractors from throughout the Northern Forest Region.

Mr. Lecours was a highly respected member of the logging community, a local leader and an enthusiastic supporter of the Old Forge Library.

The lecture, presented by Innovative Forest Operations Research team member Dr. Steve Bick of Thendara, will offer a look at the practices of innovative loggers and relate this information to Claude Lecours and his legacy.

Senior services professional to speak at Loaves & Fishes

Kathy Fox, director of the Herkimer County Office for the Aging, will present a brief overview of benefits available to Town of Webb residents during the Loaves & Fishes Café luncheon held at Niccolls Church in Old Forge on Thursday, March 27 at noon.

Town of Webb Council-woman Mary Brophy-Moore invited Fox to the luncheon to enlighten local seniors, and those who care for them, on the programs available to them as Herkimer County residents. Continue reading

Harris named new Exec. Director of Adirondack Center for the Arts

Alexandria Harris of Long Lake has been named Executive Director for The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts in Blue Mountain Lake.

She has been Managing Director for the past year, responsible for membership, fund raising, grants and managing the office.Alexandria Harris PIC

In her new role as executive director, Harris will also be responsible for overseeing programming, hiring new staff, helping keep ALCA financially healthy and working closely with the Board. Continue reading
