Webb Drama Department readies March’s musical performance

Rehearsals are under way for the Town of Webb Union Free School District’s Drama Department production of the broadway musical “The Pajama Game.”

The school’s music teacher, Valerie Gaudin, said she has high hopes for this play.

“We have the perfect amount of cast members for it,” she said.

Gaudin said that, of all the scripts she examined over the summer, The Pajama Game was one that hit home. Continue reading →

Webb Drama Club stages its 2015 school musical

The Town of Webb Drama Department had a huge success with last weekend’s play, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”

“We sold about 565 tickets over the two nights,” said Valerie Gaudin, Webb music teacher and co-director of the production.

Webb music students to present holiday band concert, Dec. 17th

The Senior, Junior and Stage Bands at Town of Webb School, under the direction of instrumental music teacher Emily Herrmann, will be performing their holiday concert on Wednesday, December 17 at 7 p.m.

A special feature will be each section of the band performing as a small ensemble.

Selections will include various Christmas favorites, music from Disney’s Frozen, Hark Those Harold Angels Rock, and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.

The public is invited to get into the holiday spirit with a night full of Christmas music at the school.

Let’s Go On with the Show Webb School offering two performances: ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ stages this weekend

The Town of Webb School Drama Department’s production of the musical, Annie Get Your Gun, will be presented in the school gymnasium on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22 at 7 p.m.

The play, with lyrics and music by Irving Berlin, tells the fictionalized story of the life of Annie Oakley, a sharpshooter who starred in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, and her romance with sharpshooter, Frank Butler. It first appeared on Broadway in 1946 with Ethel Merman in the lead role. Continue reading →

Webb school rehearsals continue for ‘Annie Get Your Gun’ musical

With the Town of Webb School Drama Depart-ment’s production of Annie Get Your Gun just a month away, the cast, crew and directors have been juggling their busy in- and out-of-school schedules to spend many of their evening hours in rehearsals.

The musical, under the direction of Webb Vocal Instructor Valerie Gaudin and Anne DeFilipps, will be held in the school gymnasium on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22 at 7 p.m.

Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors (62+) and $5 for students.

Webb students heading to Bi-County Winter Music Fest

Ten vocal and instrumental students representing the Town of Webb and Inlet Common Schools have been selected to participate in the Jefferson-Lewis Counties Music Teacher Association’s Winter Festival that will be held at South Jefferson Central School on Saturday, February 1st.

Performing with the Junior High Chorus will be Webb students Fern Bailey, Caitlin Russell, Rachel Smith, Ryan Johnston, Noah Lamphear, Nicholas Olsen and Macgregor Ritz-Kenny, all students of Webb vocal music instructor Valerie Gaudin.

Students of Webb instrumental teacher Emily Herrmann who will be performing with the Elemen-tary Band are Inlet student Natalie Brownsell and Webb students Karen Thornton and Emily Rudolph. The concert is open to the public and begins at 2 p.m. Admission is $2.

Webb School Music Department sponsers trip to New York City

The music department at the Town of Webb School is sponsoring a trip to New York City to see the Broadway musical, Matilda, on Wednesday, March 26th.

Tickets are currently available for purchase at a cost of $165 per person which includes a Front Mezzanine show ticket at the Schubert Theatre, Birnie Bus coach transportation, and bus drivers’ tips.

Busses depart the school at 4 a.m. and once in the city, you are free to sightsee, shop etc. until the show begins at 2 p.m. Busses depart the city immediately following the show.
