Brakeleys wed in Vermont

Megan Osterhout Brakeley and August Kashiwa Brakeley were married on August 17, 2013 in Middlebury, VT. The ceremony took place at the Congregational Church, officiated by Pastor Andy Nagy-Benson. G&M parade***

Following the ceremony, a wedding parade was led by Gene Childers’ Yankee Doodle Brass Band through town to a reception at the couple’s home on the Otter Creek.

Megan is the daughter of Deborah and Donald Osterhout of Gibsonia, PA. Megan graduated from Middle-bury College and is pursuing a Masters of Environmental Management at Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Science.  Continue reading

Inlet Historical Society says thank you for 2014 support

The Inlet Historical Society, a Section 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, wishes to thank all new and renewing members, as well as others, who have contributed to the Society’s efforts in preserving and presenting the history of the Town of Inlet and the surrounding region.

Last year, the Society decided to convert the membership year to a calendar year, so individuals who wish to become members, or to renew their membeship for 2014, can still do so for the current year.

You may obtain the membership form at the Town Hall or at www.inlethistoricalsociety.org .

Below, we have listed all who have already responded generously and hope readers will consider joining your friends and neighbors listed below in supporting our efforts to protect and tell about the history of the full and part time families of Inlet. Continue reading

Maria Schnell and Harley Brakeley to wed

Coach Peter Brakeley and Dr. Johana “Jody” Brakeley of Middlebury, VT are very happy to announce the marriage engagement of their youngest son Harlan “Harley” Peter Brakeley to Maria Constancia Schnell, M.A.Engagement photo copy

Ms. Schnell graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s degree in 2007 and Masters degree in Organizational Development in 2008. She now works as a Senior Consultant and manages the training team at INFOR, an Information Technology company.

Mr. Brakeley earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from Colorado College in Colorado Springs in 2006. He now works as a Server Engineer for Nordstrom.  Continue reading

Sports Challenge: Kiwanis raises nearly $7,000 for youth projects

Over 100 people participated in the 14th Annual Central Adirondack Kiwanis Club Winter Sports Challenge in Old Forge on Saturday, February 15 as part of the Old Forge Winter Carnival.

The proceeds, estimated at over $7,000, will be used to fund continuing Kiwanis children’s projects and operations of The Kommunity Youth and Activity Center (KYAC) in Old Forge.

The No. 1 Fundraising Team was Team Rintrona who will receive the Traveling Plaque a Permanent Certificate and $50.

The No. 2 Fundraising Team was a tie between Team Foley and Town of Webb School Teachers who will each receive a Permanent Certificate. Continue reading

Buddy’s thanking its customers with Saturday & Sunday events

We at Buddy’s Pizza Plus in Old Forge would like to say Thank You to all who have supported us, by having a free buffet. It will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 1 to 4 p.m.

We would like to invite area children to a Sunday Fun Day to make their own personal pizza (accompanied by adult supervision) on Sunday, March 30 from noon to 2 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.  Sign-ups will be held on Friday, March 28th at Buddy’s.

Once again we thank you for the wonderful experience of getting to know each and every one of you and look forward to many more memories.
