One Square Mile of Hope: Silent auction, Chinese raffle to bolster fundraising at Inlet’s Sept. 13 record attempt

One Square Mile of Hope 2014 will be holding a Silent Auction and a Chinese Raffle during the event at Arrowhead Park on Saturday, September 13th.

Bidders can currently check out the list of 30 items available in the Silent Auction at OneSquareMileofhope.org.

Among the auction items are three handcrafted quilts, a bird carving by local artist Andrée Dennis Newton, a one-week stay for four at a Hilton Head condo, a Yakima 66” trailer, an Elie Strait 120 kayak donated by Frisky Otter Tours, framed photographs, and paddle-related merchandise. One Square Mile: Things you should know!

The One Square Mile of Hope committee is busy with last minute details as the effort to break the Guinness Record for the largest floating raft of canoes, kayaks and guide boats approaches on Saturday, September 13th.

Inlet Tourism Director Adele Burnett reported that as of Thursday, September 4, over 2,600 boats have registered to participate. Continue reading →

One Square Mile of Hope ’14: Enthusiasm abounds as Inlet looks to regain Guinness record, largest canoe/kayak float

The One Square Mile of Hope Committee is busily preparing for a full day of activities on Fourth Lake and at Arrowhead Park in Inlet on Saturday, September 13th.  IMG_043****

Kayak and Bike Raffles to benefit One Square Mile of Hope effort

The One Square Mile of Hope Committee is currently selling tickets for two canoes and a kayak that will be raffled as a fundraiser for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the beneficiary of the September 13th One Square Mile of Hope event that they hope will break the standing Guinness Book of World Records for the largest floating raft.

The boats, which have been donated by the manufacturers, include a custom-built RapidFire pack canoe from Placid BoatWorks, a custom-detailed ultra-light Samba kayak with custom paddle from Eddyline, and an Eliza kayak from Necky.  Continue reading →

One Square Mile of Hope: Early interest growing for 2014 Guinness record event

The One Square Mile of Hope – 2014 Committee would like to share some updated information about this year’s event that will take place on Saturday, September 13 at Arrowhead Park in Inlet.

We are elated to report that as of early February, we already have over 160 boats registered, representing 13 states.
