Kayak and Bike Raffles to benefit One Square Mile of Hope effort

The One Square Mile of Hope Committee is currently selling tickets for two canoes and a kayak that will be raffled as a fundraiser for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the beneficiary of the September 13th One Square Mile of Hope event that they hope will break the standing Guinness Book of World Records for the largest floating raft.

The boats, which have been donated by the manufacturers, include a custom-built RapidFire pack canoe from Placid BoatWorks, a custom-detailed ultra-light Samba kayak with custom paddle from Eddyline, and an Eliza kayak from Necky.

The drawing will be held during the event. You do not have to be present to win, however winners are eligible to win only one boat.

Tickets are on sale for $10 each or three for $25 and are available at the Inlet Information Office or at onesquaremileofhope.org. Tickets can also be purchased by mailing a check or money order for the number of tickets desired to: One Square Mile of Hope, P.O. Box 491, Inlet, NY 13360.

In addition to the kayak raffles, the Black Fly Challenge Committee is raffling off a customized BFC Edition Transition Klunker throwback mountain bike—valued at $1,000—donated by Epic Outdoor Adventures of Fayetteville, NY.

Tickets are $5 each with the proceeds being split equally between One Square Mile of Hope and for Inlet-area bike trail improvements. The drawing will also be held at One Square Mile of Hope on September 13. Tickets are available online by following the link from the OSMOH website.

The Black Fly Challenge, set for June 14, is a classic Adirondack mountain bike race that takes peddlers from Inlet to Indian Lake—approximately 40 miles. More information is available at: blackflychallenge.com.
