VIEW arts center in Old Forge Chili Bowl Luncheon: 9th Annual event set Saturday, February 21st

VIEW, the multi-arts center in Old Forge, will host the 9th Annual Chili Bowl Luncheon on Saturday, February 21 from 11:30 a.m until 1:30 p.m.

Homemade meat and vegetarian chili, stews and soups prepared by local restaurants will be served in handmade bowls created at the Pottery Workshop at VIEW as well as from artists living in and outside the community.

View hosts Chili Bowl Luncheon

Over 200 chili lovers stopped at View for lunch served in handmade pottery bowls at the art center’s Chili Bowl on Saturday, February 22nd. Area potters provided the vast variety of bowls filled with chili donated by 15 area restaurants for the annual fundraiser.

The artists purposely produce more bowls than needed for post-event purchasing. The bowls are currently on display at View.

VIEW: Chili Bowl Luncheon moves to Saturday, Feb. 22

Hundreds of wheel-thrown bowls created by local pottery artists will be filled with chili, stews and soups and enjoyed by the public at View’s 8th annual Chili Bowl Luncheon that will take place at the arts center on Saturday, February 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. bowlchoice

Patrons can select their own bowl and choose from a variety of lunch selections donated by local restaurants.

View Chili Bowl Luncheon serves nearly 400

The 6th Annual Chili Bowl Luncheon held at View on Tuesday, February 21, drew a record crowd of 372 people, who purchased handmade pottery bowls of their choice filled with meat or vegetarian chili.

Disposable take-home bowls were also available to fill with chili.

The hand-turned pottery bowls were created by area potters inthe Pottery Studio at View by participants in the Independent Pottery program.

Bowls of chili were accompanied by garlic bread, dessert and non-alcoholic beverages. Beer and wine was also available a la carte.

The event raised just over $6,000, meeting its goal due to donations of chili and other products by local restaurants, and baked goods and desserts that were donated by area residents.

Also contributing to its success were individuals who sponsored a table for $100 in support of the event. Continue reading

Fundraiser to receive second offering

View will present the 6th Annual Chili Bowl Luncheon on Tuesday, February 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The luncheon will include meat or vegetarian chili with  garlic bread, dessert, non alcoholic beverages and live background music.

Beer and wine will be served a la carte.
