VIEW, the multi-arts center in Old Forge, will host the 9th Annual Chili Bowl Luncheon on Saturday, February 21 from 11:30 a.m until 1:30 p.m.

Homemade meat and vegetarian chili, stews and soups prepared by local restaurants will be served in handmade bowls from the Pottery Workshop at VIEW as well as from artists living in and outside the community.

Lunch patrons can expect to find a variety of new one- and two-handled crock-style bowls at this year’s event.

Many of the potters who are creating these bowls for the event will also be displaying their works in the Regional Ceramics Exhibition that will be on display from February 12 through March 12.

Local potter Bette Rintrona is one of the many artists who will be contributing to the event. A 30-year veteran of the art of pottery, she is an instructor and active volunteer at VIEW. She has donated her work to the Chili Bowl since its inception.

According to Rintrona many of the potters are producing 10 to 25 bowls each for the event, tallying up to an approximate 400 available for purchase.

The Chili Bowl Luncheon will be held in Gould Hall. The fee is $35 for chili in a handmade bowl, $10 for chili without a handmade bowl (adults) and $5 for chili without a handmade bowl (children). Pre-purchase tickets online at ViewArts.org and receive a 10% discount.

Table sponsorships are also available for $100. All proceeds will benefit VIEW.
