Adirondack Museum to present Antiques Show & Sale, Sept. 19 & 20

Central Adirondack Kiwanis celebrated its 28th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of Kiwanis International at a special luncheon meeting held on Friday, September 4  at Van Auken’s Inne.

Special guest was Town of Webb School Principal John Swick who offered a presentation on his involvement with the development of an orphanage that will house 400 children in Guadalupe, Mexico.  Continue reading →

The Egenhofers celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

Jan and Bob Egenhofer of Inlet celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends on July 26, 2014. Mom & Dad 60th

The couple, who were marriend October 23, 1954, were honored at a cocktail reception and dinner at Mulligan’s Restaurant at the Inlet Golf Club.

They met while Bob was in the Air Force and Jan was in nurse’s training. For many years they owned and operated The Alpine Lodges on Sixth Lake in Inlet.

They have four daughters, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Sid & Delores Payne honored with special celebration

Sid and Delores Payne of Inlet celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and 80th birthdays with a gathering of friends and family at VIEW on Sunday, August 10th.Sid and Delores Payne

A cocktail party was hosted by their children and their spouses: Sherri and Tim Noonan of Old Forge, Joan and John Kearns of South Utica, Connie and Jack Foley of Old Forge, and Len and Jolene Payne of Inlet.

The couple has 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, some of whom came from as far away as Boston and Las Vegas to attend the celebration.

For 43 years, Sid and Delores owned and operated Sid Payne/Payne and Levi Sawmill, and now enjoy spending winters at their home in Edgewater, FL.

Albert and Izzie Worthen celebrate 50th anniversary with the kids & grandkids

In celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, Izzie and Al Worthen of Old Forge took their children and grandchildren to Anastasia Island, FL to spend a week of fun on the Florida beaches and to also visitthe historic St. Augustine sites.

Their anniversary dinner was held at Café Atlantico on St. Augustine Beach.

The Worthens were married on July 29, 1961 in Auburn, NY. They moved to Old Forge in 1965 when Al was hired as the School Psychologist for the Town of Webb Schools.

After having their two children, Karen and Jonathan, Izzie became Director of the Old Forge Library.

Jordan & Polly Yesuras celebrate 50th

Jordan and Polly Yesuras of Old Forge celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 1 with a dinner at Van Auken’s Inne. Joining in the celebration were John and Paula (Polly’s sister) Tormey and several close friends.

Jordan and Polly met in the 10th grade at Central High School in Syracuse. They were married on July 1, 1961 at St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church.

Following their reception at the Liverpool Golf and Country Club, the couple honeymooned at Mount Airy Lodge in the Poconos.
