Returning to Mexico: Inlet Community Church members to continue orphanage building mission

The Inlet Community Church group of 22 individuals who will be traveling to Mexico in March to assist with a mission to build an orphanage are planning upcoming fund-raising initiatives to assist with their efforts.

Representatives of the group will be selling raffle tickets at Old Forge Winter Carnival at McCauley Mountain on Saturday, February 6.  Continue reading

Paul Giessler

Paul R. Giessler, 55, of Old Forge and formerly of Waterloo, NY passed away unexpectedly at his business on Sunday, January 24, 2016.

He was born on July 4, 1960 in Lyons, NY a son of the late Otto and Adrienne (Dapolito) Giessler. He was a graduate of Herkimer County Community College.

Paul was retired from the Town of Webb School and was currently the owner/operator of Mr. G’s Soup Garden in Old Forge. Continue reading

Webb School Board meets; Superintendent Germer reports on NY state aid; Ms. Valerie Gaudin to retire at term’s end

The Town of Webb Union Free School District’s Board of Education held a meeting on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.*

Public Comments included: Christine and Ryan Prichard approached the Board about their daughter, a 7th grader, attending NYSEF in Lake Placid for the winter term to train for alpine skiing at the Olympic Ski Center.

The TOW UFSD would provide the curriculum materials and a NYSEF tutor would provide the instruction.

TOW UFSD would then grade the homework/tests.  Continue reading

Junior Alpine Polar Bears start season with race at Snow Ridge

Members of the Junior Alpine Polar Bear Ski Team have welcomed new members this year and kicked off their season with a race at Snow Ridge in Turin on Sunday, January 17.
