Parker Snead emcees an Adirondack League Club Talent Show

Parker Snead will be remembered for his warm Smile and light Heart. Parker was a “Class Act” always putting his heart fully into what he believed in.

Parker Snead brought Fun and Excitement to the streets of Forestport. He put his heart and soul into making Forestport a better place to Live and Visit.

He sought to welcome everyone by creating inviting parks by the Black River. He desired to highlight Forestport’s natural beauty and restore Forestport’s history with the Twin Bridges.  Continue reading

39th annual Snodeo: Great event despite unseasonably high temperatures

The Central Adirondack Association would like to thank all the visitors who traveled from near and far to attend the 39th annual Snodeo event.

Despite the lack of snow, Snodeo was a big success thanks to all your support.

By purchasing merchandise or a raffle ticket you are supporting not only Snodeo but a list of other CAA events that happen throughout the year including Old Forge’s Winter Carnival, St. Paddy’s Day Parade, ADK Christmas on Main Street and many, many others.  Continue reading

Services planned for Allen Scott Pleban

2211273202_cfcfa33085_bAllen Scott Pleban of Cheektowaga, NY, formerly of Old Forge, passed away December 15, 2015.

He is the beloved son of Norbert and Lucille (Winiecki) Pleban; dearest brother of Dr. Gail (James) Pleban-Johnson, M.D., Dr. Lynn Pleban, Ph.D.; dear uncle of Stephen, Jennifer, Brett and David Johnson, Jacob Nosbisch; also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, December 18 at 10 a.m. in St. Philip the Apostle Church, 950 Losson Rd., Cheektowaga, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Barron-Miller Funeral Home, Inc. were in charge of arrangements.

Services set for Floyd B. Garrett, 95

Floyd B. Garrett entered his eternal home on December 9, 2015 at age 95.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Louisa; children, Nancy (Peter) Carr and Susan (Ronald) Rundell; grandchildren, Matthew (Theresa), Anne and Jennifer; great grandchildren, Braden and Riley; nieces and nephews.

Floyd worked over 40 years for NASA in Cleveland, OH.

While living in Bay Village, OH he was an active member of Bay Presbyterian Church and served as an elder. Continue reading
