The Town of Webb school’s first grade class made its annual trip to the Old Forge firehall on Friday, October 16th.
They learned all about fire safety, what a fireman does, and were brought on a tour of the facility by John Weedmark, Leo DeVincenzi and Peg Masters. Continue reading
The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks has announced that its Student of the Month for October is Mara Gaffney.
Mara is the daughter of Michael and Loretta Gaffney of Old Forge and is a senior at Town of Webb Union Free School.
The Student of the Month is a program initiated by the Kiwanis Club, in cooperation with the Town of Webb School, that recognizes senior students. Continue reading

The Town of Inlet recently completed the installation of new carpeting at the Inlet Community/Senior Center located within the Town Hall.
CAP-21 coordinated the fund raising for this project which included support from the Inlet Young At Heart seniors, the Inlet Barnstormers Snowmobile Club, the Inlet Area Business Association, the Community Foundation, the Adirondack Foundation, the Town of Inlet and an on-line fundraising campaign through the Adirondack Gives website. The air was extremely cold that morning in 1978 as I went out to the woodpile to fill the wheelbarrow with wood to feed our Ben Franklin stove.
I could see my breath pouring out in front of me as I wheeled across the driveway.

The weather on both the east and west coasts has been crazy with more than enough water coming from the sky. A big portion of South Carolina saw flooding with 15 to 20 inches of rain.
There was loss of life there as many dams were breached and all that water washed away cars, trucks and people as it flowed toward the ocean. Continue reading
