VIEW arts center in Old Forge Chili Bowl Luncheon: 9th Annual event set Saturday, February 21st

VIEW, the multi-arts center in Old Forge, will host the 9th Annual Chili Bowl Luncheon on Saturday, February 21 from 11:30 a.m until 1:30 p.m.

Homemade meat and vegetarian chili, stews and soups prepared by local restaurants will be served in handmade bowls created at the Pottery Workshop at VIEW as well as from artists living in and outside the community.

Services set for Bruce K. Ellis, 95

Bruce Ellis

Bruce K. Ellis of Old Forge passed away on his celebrated birthday, February 15, at the age of 95. Bruce and his late wife Jean made their home at Fourth Lake and Old Forge for the past 20-plus years.

Bruce was born in Syracuse, NY, on February 23, 1920. He graduated from Valley Forge Military College in June 1941, and entered the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. Continue reading

Nordic Youth Polar Bears race in Shenendehowa Classic

Members of the Polar Bear Ski Club Nordic Youth Team competed in the Shenendehowa Classic race in Day, NY on Saturday, February 14.

Living up to their team name, the athletes braved extremely cold temperatures and achieved fine results.

In the U10 Girls 1.5k Classic Race, Alivia Hopsicker placed first and Kerissa Dunn, second. Dawson Dunn placed first in the U12 Boys 3k Classic Race.

Webb instrumental students to perform Thursday, Feb. 26

The Junior, Senior and Stage Bands of Town of Webb UFSD invite the community to a night of music at the school gym on Thursday, February 26 at 7 p.m.

The program theme is “Places in Time” and will feature music depicting diverse time periods from around the world. Included  in the program are Offenbach’s Can-Can, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, My Funny Valentine, Gospel John, The Flintstones, and a medley of music from the films Gladiator and Ben Hur.

The students will be under the direction of Emily E. Herrmann, instrumental music instructor.
