Services held for Jon P. Tripp, 50

Jon TrippFuneral services were held February 12 at the Sundquist Funeral Home in Grieg for Jon P. Tripp, 50, who died on Saturday, February 7, 2014, at Lewis County General Hospital.

Jon was born in Carthage on October 29, 1964, to Bradley Lynn and Joyce M. Wetmore Tripp. He graduated from Carthage Central High School in 1982.  Continue reading

Woodgate Library to host Seed talk on February 23

Woodgate Free Library will host a program, Talking About Seeds, presented by organic farmer and area resident, Star Livingstone on Monday, February 23 at 7 p.m.

All are welcome to attend. More information is available by calling the library at (315) 392-4814.

The library is located at 11051 Woodgate Road.

Winners of the Old Forge Library’s Sweetheart Dessert Contest were announced during a post-judging public reception on Tuesday, February 10.

Ricky LaPorte won the Masters Division with his White Chocolate Coffee Mousse Dome.

There was a tie in both the Youth/Student and the Adult divisions. Continue reading

Webb Alpine Team finishes first & second

The Town of Webb School Alpine Ski Team competed in races affiliated with the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 3 and 4 where the boys team took first place and the girls team came in second place.

Tuesday’s race was held at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid and the Wednesday race was held at Mt. Pisgah in Saranac Lake.  Continue reading
